On The Riot Trail

On The Riot Trail

My first mix of 2018 is self-explanatory. It contains 20 crucial and sometimes riotous songs all released between 1988 and 1990. Many of these were first heard on the Dave Fanning show and were lovingly preserved on a variety of C90s. Around the same time, Network 2 were airing the excellent Degrassi Junior High on Thursday nights. I used to watch it on the black and white portable in our kitchen.

Pere Ubu – Waiting For Mary
Camper Van Beethoven – Eye Of Fatima (Part 1)
The Pursuit Of Happiness – She’s So Young
Psychedelic Furs – All That Money Wants
The Connells – Stone Cold Yesterday
Hoodoo Gurus – Come Any Time
Robyn Hitchcock and The Egyptians – Madonna Of The Wasps
Michael Penn – No Myth
The Ocean Blue – Between Something And Nothing
1927 – When I Think Of You
Ian McCulloch – Proud To Fall
Peter Murphy – Cuts You Up (Edit)
The Church – Metropolis
The Chills – Heavenly Pop Hit
Love and Rockets – So Alive
The Jeremy Days – Brand New Toy
Rainbirds – Sea Of Time
Concrete Blonde – Joey
Mary Margaret O’Hara – Body’s In Trouble
Indigo Girls – Closer To Fine
