Paul’s More Forgotten ’70s

So it’s back to the 1970s, the decade in which I bought no records and only really became aware of tunes towards the end of it. Vague memories of graffiti as I walked out of Michael Street school for boys, many of whom did cry. Part 1 deals with folk, some of it acidic while the second instalment focuses on easy listening with a slight funk twist. The smoky spirit of Arthur Hailey’s Airport (and its big screen adaptation) runs right through. For Part 3, we’re off to the Laurel Canyon and a wider US road trip while Part 4 focuses on the seedy underbelly of Motown, the less travelled path. Finally, it’s back to the glory days of punk and the aftermath where many of the names therein adorned the back streets of my town. The photo dates from 1973, a celebration. That tractor lasted for years, eyeless by the end.
