Paul’s Forgotten ’90s

Unlike Paul’s Forgotten ’80s and Paul’s More Forgotten ’80s, there are no chart placing restrictions on this one. While I spent the entire 1980s tracking the charts and keeping my own statistics, I stepped away from that during the 1990s as my musical tastes widened. Like previous projects, this is a five part virtual box set consisting of 100 tracks. And as before, there’s a rough theme with each playlist and I have tried to use single versions wherever possible. You’ll note that I have decided to stick with Spotify for the moment and work around its parameters. Those serious music fans expecting wall to wall obscure indie and electronica will be disappointed – for me to do so would completely miss the point and it was never just about those records anyway. As many have said, it’s a decade – not a genre. Having said that, Alphaville’s Forever Young seemed to be the anthem of our youth – the photo above is from summer 1992 and was taken in our weekend hangout; we played it constantly.
